Hello, I am Curt and I am heading to Bolivia. I will be leaving behind Carla and our two kids, Zephan (6) and Raegan (4) while I help with the project. I am in the construction business with my brother and dad building playgrounds and water parks all over Alberta. In winter the water park business is a bit slow which might come as a surprise to you so I find that I have a bit of time on my hands so off I go to Bolivia. I am looking forward to the trip and hope that we make a difference to the lives of a few families. Thanks for all of your prayers and support. Curt

My name is Rob. I am the father to five and husband to one (I find it easier that way). This will be my first missions trip. I am looking forward to interacting with the people and helping them improve their quality of life. It is truly an honour to be representing LCBC in Bolivia.

I believe that our motto for this trip should be BOYS WILL PLAY. Although we will be doing some work,(with limited oxygen) it is going to be more fun than work. And how many opportunities do you get to hang out at 3650 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 25 C?

Thanks to everyone who has supported this endeavour. We as a team really appreciate your help in making this trip possible and we covet you on-going prayers for us and our families.

Oh, and when you meet me in colour you can decide for yourself if Tim’s claim is true.

Ken retired recently, after 30 years in education. When he is not busy with contract work for a school jurisdiction, Ken enjoys a number of outdoor activities. Family times are especially important for Ken and his wife, Sharon, who are able to keep in close touch with their children and grandchildren. Ken is very much looking forward to the opportunity to invest the freedom his retirement brings in a range of Kingdom pursuits. This Bolivia trip is the first major step toward that journey.

I guess it’s my turn to let you eager blog viewers know who I am. Well some think that I will be the “slave driver”  -  ok you might be right.

Karen and I have two grandchildren and six children including son in-law’s. We have had the privilege to be involved in this kind of work many times over the years. It’s such a rewarding experience for us to be able to help (even in such a little way) the people with so much less than we have.

We have been blessed in so many ways and I believe that this is just one of the ways we can share with others.

Here you see Oliver and me after one of our Brazil work Projects.

My Job on this trip will be assuring that even the good looking people among us will do as much as they can, I will do my best by leading the group on this trip. You can imagine that I need major help from above.

Take care.

As we prepare to head to Bolivia we have decided that each member of our group should give a brief bio and introduction to themselves. This way, as you follow the blog you will know who is being spoken of, and who is in the pictures. So here is my intro:

My name is Tim, and I am the pastor at Leduc Community Baptist Church. My job during the trip will be to keep an eye on Dwight (you'll meet him soon!) and to be ready at any moment to speak (It is not out of the usual to be asked to speak on a moment's notice in a Bolivian church!)

Of course, I will also be working on homes with our team.

Who am I? I am a husband and father of two preschoolers, I love to read, garden, and learn new things. I belong to a pigeon racing club (not kidding), am working on plans to build a "Morris chair", and am currently training to do a triathalon this spring.

In my free time... I don't actually have any free time.

I'm probably the best looking member of our group; (see photo) some say a cross between Steve Carroll and Brad Pitt.

Hello Friends.

Welcome to the LCBC Bolivia 09 blog.

This is our first post.

We will update this blog on a regular bases from now on, feel free to post your comments as we approach  our departure date.

In the picture  you see Lake Titicaca

The highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca rests on the border of Peru and Bolivia, high in the stunning Andes Mountains.

Thanks for tuning in.
